2009 Summer Vacation: 4-Night Bahamas Cruise

It was a 4-Night Cruise on the Norwegian Sky to the Grand Bahamas, Nassau Bahamas and Great Stirrup Cay, Norwegian’s Private Island. The kids and I had a wonderful time, or should I say the kids had a FANTASTIC time! We were in the Owners’s Suite, so it was VIP all the way with concierge and butler service. Our Suite was great and the deck was huge which had a private hot tub that I enjoyed every night of the cruise; I would sit on the deck afterwards and just gaze at the sky, look at a few stars, say a prayer and make so many wishes. “Oh the things you can do on a Cruise…” It was soothing and relaxing and afterwards I would order room service; ICE CREAM and COOKIES! umm… I can still taste it! Just don’t ask me how I lost all the weight I gained, that would be a whole new chapter!

I enjoyed Nassau the best because we spent the day in Atlantis Paradise Island Resort. I love Atlantis unfortunately “Milo” was nowhere to be found! But Great Stirrup Cay Island was also nice, we enjoyed swimming in the ocean; by the way do you know that Ocean water is good for your skin? We had a great barbecue and danced to reggae music. Shopping for perfume in Grand Bahamas was excellent because the prices were better than those on the Ship or here in the US. The food on the Sky was delicious and we dined at some of the specialty restaurants like Le Bistro for delectable Steak. The service on the Norwegian Sky, just like any Norwegian Ship was, let’s just say two thumps up to FREESTYLE CRUISING!

We enjoyed all the entertainment onboard the ship but what my two younger kids loved the most was spending time in the pool which was conveniently located by the Garden Cafe, where they could enjoy unlimited food and snacks. My 14-year daughter rocked down the White Hot Party while my 17-year-old son got all wrapped up for the Toga Party! It was their first time cruising and they had a blast!!! We all did!!!

Cruise University Seminar@Sea – 7-Day Mexican Riviera Cruise

Ola! A little bit of work and a little bit of fun was my 7-Day Cruise aboard NCL Norwegian Star to the Mexican Riviera from Los Angeles, September 26-3 October, 2009. Port days were at Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

I must say the Norwegian Star is a beautiful ship built for Freestyle Cruising with numerous options on everything from accommodations to restaurants. There are 10 bars and lounges aboard the ship, 11 different restaurants and dining rooms, and the largest suites on the ocean; two water parks, one specially for kids, an invigorating Gym and Spa, Broadway Shows, Comedy, Casino, it was all there and I tried almost everything! Had a massage, enjoyed the Blackstreet Boys Comedy at the Star Dust Theatre, Dining at the Teppanyaki and one of my favorites, the White Hot Party….ICE…ICE….BABY! We danced the night away.

We were there for Cruise and Travel University, Seminar at Sea and I shared a balcony stateroom with a friend and fellow agent. We enjoyed the classes and the ship had the right facilities, because there were conference rooms on the ship with projectors, TV and DVD players. But on port days we were off. For me it was two vacations in one! We had the cruise and the land portion, which was the city tours, and an extra bonus thanks to the sale’s team at RIU Resorts and Hotels, (Thank you Richard and Fernando) we got to do two site inspections of RIU Emerald Bay Resort in Mazatlan and RIU Palace in Puerto Vallarta. I fell in love with Mazatlan because it reminded me of Athens and Greece; the Mediterranean look and feel, with Old World Style atmosphere was just captivating! Puerto Vallarta was more city like, but I had the best lunch there (YUMMY) at the La Palapa Restaurant by the Ocean and of course after lunch we dived right into the water! It was really relaxing, I enjoyed the rich culture of the cities and did a lot of shopping!
